Little Dragons (5-9 years old)
Half hour group class twice weekly.

Junior (9-12 years old)
One hour group class twice weekly.

Panther Kenpo Karate welcomes and teaches many children with learning disabilities and special needs; and often receives referrals from local professionals specializing in children who need self esteem boosts, physical challenges, or just some successful experiences. Parents and professional feedback suggests that Karate has some very positive effects in helping children cope with the many pressures surrounding children today. Research supports this conclusion and adds also that Martial Arts instruction for children today can build self discipline, confidence, respect for self and others... all skills that provide the foundation for resisting drugs, violence, and other negative peer pressures.

The Children's Karate program at Panther Kenpo Karate is one of the studio's strongest components. Classes are divided into Little Dragons, ages 5-8, and Juniors, ages 9-13. Little Dragon classes are 30 minutes in duration and meet twice weekly; Junior classes are twice weekly for one hour. All students test every five weeks in order to provide ongoing progress in rank and provide instructors opportunity to see where specialized instruction might be needed. Classes are upbeat in tempo and structured around forms, basics, and technique. Additional fun is provided through mini contests and drills, student of the week and month recognition, and other special events. Parents are recognized as the most valuable contributor to their child's progress and encouraged to sit in on their child's class as often as possible. Each Little Dragon and Junior student is required to complete a weekly checklist detailing their contributions to the family unit and personal goals.
